Pana Police blotter: October 1-15, 2021

The following incidents were reported by the Pana Police Department between October 1 and October 15. Any charges are accusations, not findings of guilt.

October 1

  • WARRANT ARREST: Brittany Wright was arrested on an active Christian County warrant for failing to appear on a theft charge and an active Shelby County warrant for failing to appear on a bad checks charge. Wright was issued a notice to appear on the Shelby County warrant and was transported to Christian County Correctional Center on the Christian County warrant.
  • DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Police responded to a dispute at 1020 Birch Street, Lot 9. Statements were taken on the scene with information sent to the State’s Attorney’s office for review of possible disorderly conduct charges.
  • FRAUD/FORGERY: Shasteen’s Marathon owner Bob Patel reported that a customer used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase cigarettes. Using video surveillance of the transaction, police was able to locate and identify Joseph Ishmael. Ishmael was taken into custody and processed on a charge of forgery, a Class 3 felony, and later transported to Christian County Correctional Center without incident.
  • TRAFFIC STOP: Natasha Lee was issued citations for defective front windshield and driving without a valid driver’s license as the result of a traffic stop at Jefferson and Springside.
  • WARRANT ARREST: In relation to the above traffic stop, passenger Heather Lee was arrested on an active Macon County warrant for failing to appear on a driving while license suspended/revoked charge. Lee posted cash bond and was released with a notice to appear in court.

October 2

  • THEFT: Barb Marvin reported the theft of items from a storage unit. A lock was cut to gain entry, and a few items were reported missing.
  • THEFT: Amanda Cantrell reported the theft of a motorized bicycle from 801 S. Poplar. A suspect has been identified with reports forwarded to the State’s Attorney’s office.

October 3

  • SPEEDING: Coltin Hocq was stopped and cited for driving 63 in a 45 MPH speed zone.

October 4

  • THEFT: James Hedderich reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a 2006 Kia Sedona, parked at 709 E. Jackson over the past several months.
  • THEFT: Joseph Hicks reported the theft of Snap-On hand tools and several power tools from 203 E. Orange. The theft reportedly occurred between the evening of October 1 and the early morning of October 2.
  • WARRANT ARREST: William Thomas was taken into custody on an active Christian County warrant for failing to appear on a meth possession charge. Thomas is facing additional charges of meth possession less than five grams and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was transported to Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.
  • HARASSMENT: James Forrester reported harassment by Joseph Hicks. The incident reportedly occurred while driving westbound on 4th Street at Poplar Street. Information was forwarded to the State’s Attorney’s office for review of charges.

October 5

  • DOMESTIC BATTERY: Police responded to a domestic disturbance involving two adults. Following an investigation, Justen Warren was arrested on charges of domestic battery against a 34-year-old female victim. Warren was transported to Christian County Correctional Center.
  • ORDINANCE VIOLATION: Kirby Manuel was issued an ordinance violation citation for unsatisfactory property conditions, due to a demolition car, tires, and debris sitting on the property.
  • ORDINANCE VIOLATION: Travis Rhodes was issued an ordinance violation citation for unsatisfactory property conditions, due to tires and debris sitting on the property.

October 6

  • TRAFFIC STOP: Matthew Scribner was issued a citation for driving with no signal lamp on a signal device.
  • THEFT: A complainant reported the theft of a blue 2012 Dong Fang moped.
  • THEFT: Dakota Rudow reported parts missing from his boat while being serviced at MMS Boat Shop over the past several months. This incident is part of a greater investigation surrounding theft incidents at the business.
  • SPEEDING: Gary Buchen was stopped and cited for driving 68 in a 45 MPH speed zone.

October 7

  • BURGLARY: A complainant reported a burglary to his locked garage at 500 S. Clark. Miscellaneous fishing gear and a set of binoculars were taken after forced entry. The exterior motion light was tampered with and removed to reduce visibility during the break-in.
  • ORDINANCE VIOLATION: Byron Kay was issued an ordinance violation citation for an illegal burn and assessed a $250 fine.
  • TRAFFIC STOP: Billy Ward of Rosamond was issued a citation for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

October 8

  • SPEEDING: Donald Sisk of Nokomis was issued a citation for driving 48 in a 30 MPH speed zone.
  • WARRANT ARREST: Jesse Keller was arrested on an active Christian County warrant for failing to appear on a driving while license suspended charge. Keller was unable to post 10 percent of a $3,000 bond plus a $75 failure-to-appear (FTA) fee attachment and was transported to Christian County Correctinal Center in lieu of bond.
  • THEFT: A complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from their property. A quick investigation was conducted and led to the arrest of Jacob Legnon. Legnon was processed on charges of theft under $500 and given a notice to appear in court.
  • TRAFFIC STOP: Bradley Moore was cited for operation of a uninsured motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 6 N. Poplar.

October 9

  • SPEEDING: Richard Nohren was cited for driving 50 in a 30 MPH speed zone following a traffic stop at 6th and Minnesota.
  • WARRANT ARREST: Richard Holbrook was arrested on an active Shelby County warrant for failing to appear on a possession of a stolen vehicle charge. Holbrook was transported to Shelby County Correctional Center.
  • TRAFFIC STOP: Zackary Maton was cited for operating a bicycle without glasses following a traffic stop at 9th Street at Fair Avenue.

October 10

  • SPEEDING: Marissa Maples of Champaign was cited for driving 66 in a 45 MPH speed zone.
  • TRESPASSING: Jacob Banning was arrested on charges of criminal trespass to private property at 200 N. Pine. Banning was released with a notice to appear in court.

October 11

  • DOMESTIC DISPUTE: Police responded to 4th Street at Commercial Alley to investigate a report of a domestic dispute involving a male and female.
  • THEFT: A complainant reported the theft of a bicycle. The bicycle was later recovered.
  • SPEEDING: Dana Frailey was cited for driving 49 in a 45 MPH speed zone.
  • WARRANT ARREST: Colby Coleman was arrested on active in-state warrants. The first warrant was from Christian County for failing to appear on a driving while license revoked charge, which carried a $10,000 bond with 10 percent to post. The second warrant was from Effingham County for failing to appear on a meth possession charge, which carried a $5,000 bond with 10 percent to post. The third and final warrant was from Montgomery County for failing to appear on driving while license suspended charge, which carried a $2,500 bond with 10 percent to post. All three warrants also carry the $75 FTA fee attachment. Coleman was transported to Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.
  • TRESPASSING: Jeremy Cole was arrested at 215 N. John for criminal trespassing to private property. Cole was processed and released with a notice to appear in court.

October 12

  • WARRANT ARREST: Jeremy Cole was arrested on an active Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) warrant. Cole was released into the custody of an IDOC parole officer.
  • PROPERTY DAMAGE: Danielle Patnode reported damage to a window at her residents at 11 W. 3rd.

October 14

  • THEFT: A complainant reported the theft of a license plate on her 2002 Dodge Ram. The vehicle was parked in the 200 block of Hayes Avenue.
  • WARRANT ARREST: Carmen Carlock was arrested on an active Christian County warrant for failing to appear on an aggravated battery charge. The warrant carried a $50,000 bond with 10 percent to apply and a $75 FTA fee attachment. Unable to post bond, Carlock was transported to Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.

October 15

• WARRANT ARREST: Colby Coleman was arrested on an active out-of-state warrant at Rosebud Motel. Coleman was transported to Christian County Correctional Center.
