There is no denying that Audi is a fantastic brand of vehicle. Indeed, when you purchase an Audi you are making a statement. You can afford the luxury lifestyle and take advantage of everything that this brings with it.
However, like any other brand of vehicle, Audis can develop issues. This doesn’t mean that they are unreliable or that they should be avoided. On the contrary, polls suggest that Audis experience far fewer mechanical problems compared to other brands.
However, over time and due to wear and tear there can be problems. Here are some of the concerns that you need to be aware of, particularly after you have owned an Audi for a number of years.
Oil leaks are a common issue with a lot of cars. On occasion, you might find that you experience this issue with an Audi. Most people assume that leaking oil is not a serious concern.
However, it can cause numerous problems with the vehicle. It could be a fire hazard if left unchecked. Additionally, it may also damage some of the electrical components of the vehicle.
You definitely want to avoid this. The best way to do that is to make sure that you are fixing the problem as soon as possible. If you regularly find that your oil levels are running low, then this is a sign of an oil leak. It might be worth getting a checkup at your local auto repair shop.
You might have noticed that the lights inside or outside your vehicle are flickering. Perhaps, the display on the dash is going off and on or maybe you’re having trouble unlocking the car. These are all signs of a problem with the electrical components in the vehicle. They could be malfunctioning for a whole variety of reasons. It’s possible that one of the crucial wires has simply come loose or frayed.
With this issue, there is good news. The repair is usually simple and therefore cheap to solve. As such, if you are having electrical trouble, there’s no need to fear an expensive bill. You should be able to get the matter resolved without the cost ballooning out of control.
If you are getting your vehicle checked regularly, you probably won’t experience too many mechanical issues with your car. However, if you do experience trouble, then it’s likely due to wear and tear. The timing belt falls neatly into this category.
If you use your car a lot, then your timing belt is going to wear out faster. If you use your vehicle for odd commutes or weekend travel, the wear and tear aren’t so apparent. Moreover, if a timing belt does reach the breakage point, it’s going to cause damage to your vehicle. It can destroy the pistons leading to an expensive repair.
This is at least one reason why you need to maintain a regular vehicle maintenance schedule. It’s important that you don’t let a problem like this grow out of control. You should be able to stay on top of the issue if your maintenance schedule is done at least once a year.
Another common issue with Audis is a rather unpleasant odor that often comes from the ventilation system. If you notice this, then you probably have a build-up of mold in this area.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a problem that can be fully fixed. However, if you clean out the area about twice a year then you should be able to keep it under control easily. That smell won’t linger and you can get back to enjoying taking your car out for a spin. Be aware that this issue will worsen in the summer.
This is another cheap fix. Spark plugs are a common issue in virtually every car on the market. Eventually, they do wear down and need replacement.
The good news is that they are easy to replace. A lot of people will handle this job themselves without trained mechanic assistance. Something to take note of is that you invest in high-quality spark plugs. Low-quality plugs will fail faster and therefore will cost you more long-term.
