Revenge of the Non-Profits Andrew Heaton, Brian Dunning
PANA (Heartland Newsfeed) — Pana Community Hospital welcomed a new podiatrist to their podiatry team Tuesday, Oct. 15, Dr. Andrew Ott, DPM, AACFAS.
Following a residency in New York where he earned the highest score in the country on the in-training exam issued by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, he began seeing patients recently in Suite 103 of the hospital’s Medical Mall and will regularly see patients on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
Ott, a 2005 graduate of Hillsboro High School who was a standout athlete in multiple sports, graduated summa cum laude from Blackburn College in Carlinville where he was an all-conference linebacker.
Ott graduated in 2014 with a doctorate degree in podiatric medicine and surgery from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa and proceeded to the residency program in New York City’s New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he became chief resident in his fourth year in residency.
His residency was devoted primarily toward reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, but he also covered all aspects of general podiatric medicine,
“Dr. Ott will be an excellent addition to PCH’s specialty clinic physician staff and surgical staff,” stated Trina Casner, PCH president and CEO. “His expertise in podiatry and surgical skills will provide our patients with excellent care in podiatry.”
“I look forward to serving the community of Pana and the surrounding areas. My sports background will provide an added area of expertise that can help local athletes,” Ott stated.
Ott is most excited to provide the community with local access to services that previously were only available in Springfield or St. Louis, providing an opportunity to have surgical procedures done at the hospital which weren’t available before.
Dr. Ott offers services for wound and diabetic foot care, podiatric dermatology, foot and ankle trauma, fracture care, sports medicine, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, pediatric foot deformities and internal and external fixation, arthroscopy, limb salvage, plastic surgery, dermatopathology and wound care of the lower extremity.
Ott enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, jogging, weightlifting and attending sporting events in his free time.
Appointments can be arranged by calling the office at (217) 562-2544.
