EAST DUNDEE (Heartland Newsfeed) — There has been much speculation as to who may be running in the 14th Congressional District of the Illinois delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2020 cycle. Among the speculation is state Rep. Allen Skillicorn.
The East Dundee-based Republican said in a statement Tuesday that if it takes him running for another positions for Illinois families to have a voice, so be it.
Randy Hultgren was the previous Republican to hold the seat before losing to Democrat Lauren Underwood by a narrow margin in November.
“I am 100 percent focused on saving Illinois from high taxes, restrictive economic policies and Obamacare’s high costs that hurt all Illinoisans,” Skillicorn said. “I will fight for Illinoisans in the state Capitol, Main Street, on farms and even Washington, D.C.”
Skillicorn noted in the statement was something we wanted to make prior to any future news releases of a speculative run, but he is considering the voices of families within the district, which represents all or portions of Lake, McHenry, Kane, DeKalb, Kendall, DuPage and Will counties.
Skillicorn was re-elected in an uncontested bid to a second term to represent the 66th District of the Illinois House of Representatives.
