We'll See About That with Ron Cey Episode 157 Leave Tom Hardy Alone! Ron Cey
There are many characteristics and traits that you learn throughout your life, each one adding to your personality and making you a better person. Sometimes you learn these qualities through fictitious characters from books and movies, sometimes your parents teach you these lessons early on, and other times you learn them from construction foremen.
Yes, you read that right: a construction foreman has a lot to teach you about being a productive member of society. If you’re curious as to what exactly you might learn, then here are some qualities of a foreman that you just might want to pick up for yourself.
One of the most desirable traits in a construction foreman is their passion for what they do, and how they do it. A foreman and their team erect habitable buildings and useful infrastructure from the ground up. That’s a pretty admirable job, and it requires the passion of someone who loves what they do. In life, it’s important to be passionate about the things you do, whether it’s your job, a hobby, your family, or anything else. When you care that much about something, then your pride and passion are easily visible in the product.
No matter what you do in life, it’s important to be organized. Construction foremen have to be incredibly organized because they handle such large projects with various moving parts. There is a lot of planning, progress tracking, attention to detail, and precision that is involved with construction. Being organized will help you plan and account for everything that life throws your way. For instance, if a foreman knows that the industrial clutch and brake global market is projected to reach $1.7 billion over the next decade, then they might inventory their machinery now to order any parts that might be cheaper today than they are tomorrow. All of these traits can be extremely useful in your everyday life as well.
Having the ability to look ahead and foresee eventualities doesn’t mean you’re clairvoyant, it just means your prepared. Traditional job site trailers have a lifespan of, at most, five years due to thin wood and vinyl building materials which fail often. A construction foreman will know that and estimate how long their job is going to take, factoring in anything that they might foresee down the road and ensuring their job site trailer will be adequate. The ability to look beyond today can allow you to get things done on time, produce accurate results, and plan for the unplanned.
When a foreman isn’t efficient, it can cost investors millions of dollars and their crew members their lives. Construction foremen need to execute their jobs efficiently to ensure everything is done correctly and people get to go home at the end of the day. When you’re efficient in life, you’ll find that you have more time for the things you enjoy and the people you love.
See, you were probably surprised to find out how much a construction foreman can teach you. There are certain skills in life that you naturally pick up on, and other times you have to learn by watching others. So before you model your life after some multi-billion dollar tycoon, consider the everyday people that help us build a better world.
