CICBC hosts community blood drives in area October 16 & 17

HILLSBORO/LITCHFIELD (Heartland Newsfeed) — The Central Illinois Community Blood Center (CICBC) in Springfield has announced in press releases today that community blood drives will be held at two area hospitals.

A community blood drive sponsored by Hillsboro Area Hospital will be held Monday, October 16 in the gymnasium of Fusion Fitness & Aquatics, located on the campus of the hospital, located at 1210 E. Tremont St. in Hillsboro. The drive will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Another blood drive, sponsored by the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) and HSHS St. Francis Hospital will be held Tuesday, October 17 in the lower level auditorium of the hospital, located at 1215 Franciscan Dr. in Litchfield. The drive will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (but can be 16 with signed parental permission form), must weigh at least 110 pounds and have a photo identification card. Donors who gave blood on or before August 21 or August 22 of this year are eligible to donate at these drives.

Appointments will need to set. Please contact Jessica Chappelear at (217) 532-3896 for the Hillsboro drive or call CICBC at (217) 241-7550 for the Litchfield drive.

Eligibility questions can be answered by CICBC by calling them at (800) 747-5401.

Blood donation is a safe and simple procedure that takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour for completion. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors as well.

CICBC is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin and is the exclusive provider for Hillsboro Area Hospital and HSHS St. Francis Hospital.
