Steve Suess will run for a seat representing McLean County Board’s District 8, which includes parts of Bloomington, including downtown and the city’s west side. The seat is currently held by Democrat Paul Segobiano, who is running for re-election.
Suess is a professor at Illinois State University and recently bought a home on Bloomington’s west side. He also serves as the communications director for the Libertarian Party of Illinois and unsuccessfully ran for a Normal Township trustee position earlier this year.
“I’m running to bring change to the county board. I’d like to see the residents of McLean County, both inside and outside of my district, to have a louder voice in county government,” Suess said in a statement Monday.
Suess said his primary goal will be to increase public participation and access to information in county government.
