Carr to Congress: ‘FCC is not independent’
WASHINGTON (UPI) -- Chairman Brendan Carr said the Federal Communications Commission isn't independent from the Trump administration in testimony Wednesday before Congress, during which the word "independent" was removed from the agency's mission statement online. Carr's comment came as members of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee questioned him on who the FCC answers to in the wake of a controversy that led to the brief suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show on ABC.
