NOKOMIS -- A resident brought forth some concerns about dogs at large before the Nokomis City Council on Monday, July 10. Emily Fox addressed the council about dogs running at large destroying and taking things from her property. Fox has video evidence of the dogs tearing up her property at 447 S. Spruce. NOKOMIS -- For the past two seasons, the Nokomis football team was independent following the dissolution of the Prairie State Conference. This season is different due to being accepted into the Lincoln Prairie Conference. Paul Watson enters his seventh team coaching the Redskins with a 35-27 record, hoping to return to prior performances of the 2021 season. Letters that property owners have received from companies advise them to buy a copy of the deed to their property. In addition, they would get a so-called "property profile". Two arrested in Nokomis drug bust

NOKOMIS -- A Nokomis woman and a Hillsboro man are in jail following a drug bust at a local business. Following an investigation stemming from an investigation, Nokomis Police served a search warrant on Wednesday, June 28. The warrant was serviced at Front Street Pub, 124 W. Front St. During the search, at least 100 grams of methamphetamine were found on the premises. Barbara Krager, 55, of Nokomis, was arrested on location. Macon County corrections officer in jail

DECATUR -- A corrections officer in Macon County is now on the other side of the bars following an arrest. Adam Goodbrake of Decatur is in jail on a preliminary charge of "unlawful delivery of firearms to a felon," according to Sheriff Jim Root. Goodbrake, 25, faces accusations of illegally storing weapons for a felon he met who was in incarceration at the jail. Canadian wildfires cause Illinois air quality issues

SHELBYVILLE -- The National Weather Service in St. Louis and Lincoln issued air quality warnings earlier this week for most of Central Illinois. The air quality issues are in relation to the ongoing wildfires in Canada in which the smoke was blown south across most of the Midwestern and New England states.
