COLUMBIA, Mo. — Despite a delay as a result of Missouri Gov. Mike Parson testing positive for COVID-19 late last month, the show must go on. Regarding, the gubernatorial forum, that is.
A news release from the Missouri Press Association Thursday states that they will hold their gubernatorial forum. The release states that it will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Missouri Theatre in Columbia on the campus of the University of Missouri. KOMU 8 is co-hosting this forum.
The forum is the first time for the Republican governor, Democratic state auditor Nicole Galloway, Libertarian Rik Combs, and Green Party nominee Jerome Bauer to share a common stage. All will be able to discuss their positions on issues affecting the Show-Me State.
The Missouri Press/KOMU forum is not open to the public. However, it is being broadcast and live-streamed to the general public. Those who experience issues with our live stream below can access the Missouri Press forum stream on their website.
Exceptions are for recognized media organizations submitting for media credentials and a designated pool photographer. However, video and still photography will be allowed to proceed at the beginning of the forum when the candidates are in their positions. After that, the media will go to their area designations. Those attendees will refrain from any additional photography or videography during the forum. The deadline for media credentials is Monday.
The Associated Press’ David Lieb is serving as a moderator for this forum. Panelists include KOMU’s Emily Spain and the Columbia Missourian’s Ruby Bailey. Additionally, Gary Castor of the Jefferson City News Tribune and Tricia Miller of the Washington Missourian are also panelists.
The forum was to initially take place in late September. The forum was to be a part of the Missouri Press Association’s 154th annual convention, which was a virtual convention this year. However, it would not take place when Parson had to go into quarantine following a positive test for COVID-19.
Questions about the forum can be made by contacting Executive Director Mark Maassen at (573) 449-4167 ext. 308 or by reaching out via email.
