Bronson Rechsteiner, son and nephew of pro wrestlers, heading to Baltimore

(Heartland Newsfeed) — Despite going undrafted in the NFL Draft, a former Kennesaw State running back will get his opportunity. Bronson Rechsteiner and the Baltimore Ravens reached a free-agent deal shortly after the draft ended Saturday.

The 2019 HERO Sports All-American selection from Acworth, Ga. led KSU to two Big South Conference titles, three FCS playoff appearances with four playoff victories. As a result, Kennesaw State became one of the most successful startup programs in college football.

The KSU football program took to Twitter to celebrate the signing.

Rechsteiner and his contributions at KSU

Rechsteiner led the top rushing attack in all of FCS football during his senior season. He would rack up 909 rushing yards with an average of 8.1 yards per carry. Additionally, he would score seven touchdowns. He would later etch his name in the record books on Sept. 21, 2019, against Missouri State. As a result, Rechsteiner racked up a record 221 yards over 10 attempts, including an 85-yard touchdown, leading to a comeback victory.

He would rack 909 rushing yards for the season, third in the Big South Conference. This includes his only pass, a 60-yarder for a touchdown.

Rechsteiner tallied 35 bench reps, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds and completed the three-cone drill in 6.95 seconds. As a result, this would have ranked him third among all combine participants and the top running back. In four seasons, he would finish with 1,496 rushing yards, which marks the fifth-highest in school history.

Rechsteiner is the son of real estate broker and semi-retired professional wrestler Rick Steiner (real name: Robert Rechsteiner). Rick Steiner is better known for his championship runs in World Championship Wrestling. Additionally, he is the nephew of pro wrestler “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner (real name: Scott Rechsteiner). Scott Steiner currently wrestles for the National Wrestling Alliance.
