Sources: Indianapolis Colts ‘willing to’ trade T.Y. Hilton

INDIANAPOLIS (UPI) — The Indianapolis Colts are willing to trade Pro Bowl wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, according to multiple sources.

A league source with knowledge of Hilton’s relationship with the Colts told Pro Football Talk “where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” regarding a possible move.

Hilton, 27, is a season removed from leading the league with 1,448 receiving yards. This year, without star quarterback Andrew Luck, he has managed 527 yards and a touchdown on 29 receptions through eight games.

He pulled in two catches for 15 yards in the Colts’ 24-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium.

“I didn’t play really well, but we still had a chance to win the game,” Hilton told reporters after the game, according to Colts.com. “I need to make more plays and help us win.”

Hilton doesn’t want to leave the team, according to the report. The three-time Pro Bowl selection is under contract through 2020. Hilton is due $8 million this season. His salary escalates to $13 million in 2019. A source told Pro Football Talk that Hilton would not be “inclined” to adjust that deal to make a trade possible.

On Sunday, Hilton was asked about the trade rumors.

“Is that a question?” the wide receiver asked, according to the Indianapolis Star. He then walked away from the question session.

League sources told ESPN Sunday that multiple teams have also reached out to the Colts regarding cornerback Vontae Davis. At least two teams have spoken to the Colts about the defensive back. Davis’ contract expires this offseason. The two-time Pro Bowl selection has been with the Colts since 2012.
