LOS ANGELES (UPI) — Major League Baseball placed Trevor Bauer on seven-day administrative leave Friday amid its investigation into sexual assault allegations made against the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, the league announced.

The reigning National League Cy Young Award winner has denied the allegations, which were made by a woman earlier this year. The woman filed a request for a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Bauer earlier this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Bauer was scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers against the Washington Nationals on Sunday at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., but will now miss that start.

“MLB’s investigation into the allegations made against Trevor Bauer is ongoing,” MLB said in a news release. “While no determination in the case has been made, we have made the decision to place Mr. Bauer on seven-day administrative leave effective immediately.

“MLB continues to collect information in our ongoing investigation concurrent with the Pasadena Police Department’s active criminal investigation. We will comment further at the appropriate time.”

Bauer, 30, signed a three-year, $102-million contract with the Dodgers in February. He leads MLB with 137 strikeouts and 107.2 innings pitched this season.

The Dodgers (50-31) face the Nationals (40-39) in the second game of a four-game series at 7:05 p.m. EDT Friday at Nationals Park.
