Salem’s Deuel Veterinary to close

SALEM — Deuel Veterinary Services will close at 5 p.m. Aug. 20 after 15 years serving Salem and the surrounding area.

Dr. Abby Deuel said she and her family are moving overseas for what she called a “once in a lifetime adventure.” The clinic will continue to schedule appointments and serve clients during normal business hours through August 20.

Clients should request digital veterinary records by August 19. Requests can be submitted through the clinic’s website by selecting “Request Records.” The practice maintains records digitally and cannot provide printed copies.

Deuel Veterinary Services is located at 2047 N. Broadway Ave. in Salem. The clinic has provided services including digital X-rays, ultrasound and in-house laboratory testing.

Deuel said she was unable to find another veterinarian to take over the practice. She thanked the Salem community for its support over the past 15 years.

During that time, Deuel said she spayed or neutered more than 15,000 animals. She said she hopes that work will continue in the community.

A public auction is scheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 29 at the clinic.
