Blues make multiple roster moves

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues front office has been busy with a flurry of moves made throughout the day on Wednesday.

While most of the actions were contract signings, one expected contract buyout was on the docket.

11:03 AM: Blues buy out the contract of Jonathan Drouin

St. Louis Blues GM Alexander Steen announced that the team has bought out the contract of forward Jonathan Drouin.

Drouin, 31, tallied three points (one goal, two assists) in nine games with the Blues and 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) in 55 games with the New York Islanders last season.

Overall, the Sainte-Agathe, Quebec, native has dressed in 671 career NHL regular-season games, totaling 398 points (111 goals, 287 assists) and 238 penalty minutes.

11:30 AM: Blues sign Jonatan Berggren

Steen announced that the team has signed forward Jonatan Berggren to a one-year contract worth $2 million. Berggren was originally claimed off waivers by the Blues on December 16, 2025.

Berggren, 25, would appear in 36 games for the Blues last season. He would record 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) and six penalty minutes. He would also dress in 15 games for the Detroit Red Wings. During his stint in Detroit, he would post six points (two goals, four assists) and six penalty minutes.

Overall, the Uppsala, Sweden, native has played in 205 career NHL regular-season games, totaling 80 points (37 goals, 43 assists) and 44 penalty minutes. 

Berggren was drafted by the Red Wings in the second round, 33rd overall, of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

11:56 AM: Blues sign Ross Johnston

Steen announced that the team has signed forward Ross Johnston to a three-year contract worth $6 million ($2 million AAV).

Johnston, 32, has spent the past three seasons with the Anaheim Ducks. In the 2025-26 season, he logged 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) and 107 penalty minutes in 62 regular-season games. He would also record four penalty minutes in five postseason appearances.

Overall, the 6’5, 232-pound native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, has dressed in 307 career regular-season games, including stints with the New York Islanders and the Ducks, tallying 46 points (14 goals, 32 assists) and 579 penalty minutes.

2:16 PM: Blues sign Dillon Dubé

Steen announced that the team has signed forward Dillon Dubé to a one-year, one-way contract worth $850,000.

Dubé originally joined the organization on an AHL professional tryout (PTO) with the Blues’ affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, on Dec. 10, 2025.

Dubé, 27, appeared in 46 regular-season games with the Thunderbirds last season, sharing second on the team with 20 goals and ranking fourth with 37 points overall.

The Golden, British Columbia, native also recorded eight points (five goals, three assists) in 12 postseason games, helping lead the team to the Atlantic Division Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Overall, the 5’11, 185-pound forward has appeared in 325 career NHL regular-season games with the Calgary Flames, totaling 127 points (57 goals, 70 assists) and 105 penalty minutes.

He was drafted by the Flames in the second round, 56th overall, of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
