ST. LOUIS — The radio presence of Audacy in St. Louis is no more, following the announcement of a sale Monday.
Reports from Barrett Media and RadioInsight reveal the sale of Audacy’s St. Louis cluster to Hoffman Media Group.
Hoffman Media Group is a subsidiary of the Winnetka, Illinois-based HF Companies. Hoffman Media reportedly owns several newspapers in California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, and Missouri. Among its newspaper portfolio is the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Financial terms of the sale have yet to be disclosed. Part of the deal is:
“This is a deliberate step to accelerate the expansion of our media platform and establish it as one of the largest print and digital news organizations in the United States,” said Hoffman Media founder and Chairman David Hoffman. “We are building a scaled, multi-platform network that combines print, digital, and broadcast to deliver trusted journalism and meaningful community connection. Talk radio is a natural extension of that vision and a powerful driver of our long-term growth.”
“With our planned acquisitions, combined with our existing portfolio of 154 newspapers and our expansion into radio, we expect to become the second-largest media company in the United States by year-end,” Hoffman added.
Audacy CEO Kelli Turner said they were not actively seeking to sell the cluster. However, Hoffman/HF Companies made an offer they couldn’t necessarily refuse.
“HF Companies presented an opportunity for the Company that ultimately made strong business sense for both parties,” Turner said. “As always, the transaction remains subject to FCC approval and other customary closing conditions.”
Turner would also note no anticipated changes to day-to-day operations, reporting structures, or benefits.
“HF Companies has expressed a strong commitment to local media and to investing in the iconic brands that have served St. Louis listeners for decades,” Turner added. “We believe these stations will continue to play an important role in the community while benefiting from an owner focused on the market’s long-term success.”
Becky Domyan, who was previously Audacy’s SVP and market manager, will return to run the cluster for Hoffman Media. Domyan was in charge of the cluster from 2018 until April 2026.
Domyan was previously a market manager in Wichita, Kan., while with Audacy. She also previously worked for Emmis Communications in the St. Louis cluster.
