Although it’s still cold out, warmer weather and springtime will be here before we know it. Spring is the perfect time to start fresh and tackle all the grime and clutter that has accumulated over the winter. There are many ways to make this year’s spring cleaning your best one yet. We explain further below.
Before diving into decluttering and cleaning, sit down and make a plan. Identify the areas in your home that need the most attention and prioritize them accordingly. You can also break down tasks by room or zone instead of trying to tackle everything at once. Writing down your plan and ticking tasks off as you complete them can be motivating and help you experience more success than ever before.
One of the biggest enemies of a clean and organized home is clutter. It seems to accumulate effortlessly, and before you know it, the mess can feel overwhelming. Spring cleaning will decrease this clutter, but the best way to manage it is to regularly get rid of items you don’t need. When you go shopping throughout the year, be intentional with your purchases. This combination will set you up for cleaning and organizing success.
It’s easy to get sidetracked while cleaning and bounce between tasks. However, doing this means that you clean a little without making real progress. A schedule and auditory stimulation, like music or a podcast, can help you stay focused on one task at a time.
Nothing makes a space feel as fresh and inviting as a beautiful scent. Burning a candle when cleaning can mask unpleasant cleaning odors and set the tone for relaxation when you’re done. Diffusing essential oils or opening a window can also help, but candles often work best since they have a rich scent you can control.
As you light your candle and finish up the cleaning process, make sure you don’t forget about the little things. Put small but important duties such as dusting the blinds, cleaning baseboards, and wiping down light switches on your to-do list.
You can make this year’s spring cleaning your best one yet with proper planning and attention to detail. Remember to take breaks when you need them, and don’t feel pressured to tackle everything at once. Enjoy the process and celebrate the progress you make along the way.
