SIU Hawgs & Dawgs set for Sept. 2
CARBONDALE — SIU Saluki Athletics has partnered with Black Diamond Harley-Davidson to host Hawgs & Dawgs for the Sept. 2 football home opener versus Austin Peay at 6 p.m.
Motorcycle riders are invited to assemble at 5:30 p.m. at the South tunnel entrance into Saluki Stadium, where they will lead the Salukis onto the field prior to kickoff.
To participate in Hawgs & Dawgs, riders must purchase a game ticket on the official SIU Athletics website and by entering the promo code “HAWGS”. Riders have two ticket options that include a special discounted rate:
- $10 (Ticket Only)
- $20 (Ticket plus commemorative T-shirt)
Fans who order shirts can pick them up the day of the game at Black Diamond Harley-Davidson until 4 p.m., or get them at the stadium at 5:30. The deadline to place an order for a shirt is Aug. 28, and sizes range from Extra Small to 3X.
Tom Weber joined Saluki Athletics as director of media services in July 2001 and currently serves the department as Associate AD for Communications. The communications team, which includes media services, marketing, broadcasting, and video services, works together to publicize, promote and generate content for the University's 17 varsity athletic teams. Weber is the primary sports information content for football and men's golf, and the secondary contact for men's basketball.
Weber is a 1991 graduate of Ball State University, where he majored in journalism and political science. He obtained a master's degree in sports management from Marshall University in 1995. Prior to SIU, Weber worked five years as an assistant sports information director at Vanderbilt University, one year as an intern at Ohio State, and two years as a graduate assistant at Marshall.
Tom and his wife, Sally, reside in Carterville with their sons, Tom and Colton.
