To say that the COVID-19 situation has been tough on people would be an understatement. This summer, if you’re at home and staying safe, count that as a blessing. Having to miss your annual vacation and cancel travel plans was a smart choice, but it’s understandable if you feel like you’re missing out on normal fun. So, plan a staycation instead. There are fun and exciting ways to spice up your weekends while still observing social distancing rules. Here’s a quick look at some of the best ideas.
Hiking is a fantastic way to get a change of scenery without coming into contact with large crowds. Check your local government website for information about any hiking trails that have opened near your home and read up about all the precautions they recommend. Plan a hike over a few hours with only the members of your household. Bring an organic hemp hand sanitizer with you and remember to wear a mask. Avoid planning overnight trips where you might have to use public restrooms and stores and come into contact with other people. If you intend to bring a picnic meal, clean up after yourself, and dispose of all trash safely when you get home.
Not being able to travel, meet, and catch up with friends and family due to COVID-19 can make you feel lonely and isolated. Why not make use of the various online apps to have a virtual family reunion? Add to the cheer by sending custom T-shirts to everyone ahead of time. You can place orders for tees in different sizes at online websites, further maintaining that social distancing commitment. Get your tees personalized with a family name or slogan for everyone. All that remains is scheduling a digital family event and inviting your loved ones to attend. Make sure to take some screenshots for your next Christmas card.
You don’t need to go far to soak up the sunshine. Set up a picnic in your backyard and spend time munching on freshly-cooked food. Check out the Panera Bread menu for takeout options, place your order, and bring it home. Just remember to use eco-friendly flatware and cutlery. Or, better yet, pop into the kitchen and grab your reusable steel silverware to eat straight out of the packaging. Set up a washable bedspread on the grass and turn off digital devices. Just focus on your family and soak up the fresh air.
The COVID-19 pandemic has canceled many travels and vacation plans. But, as long as you have your family and friends, holidays can be organized anywhere. Get creative and you’ll be surprised at how much fun you can have while staying safe!
