Khari Mateen joins Cello on the 30th episode of the podcast. He is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist working all over the world. Working with Grammy-nominated artists and on Emmy-winning films, he’s had a successful music career spanning various projects, collaborations, and albums. His work encompasses his perspective, creativity, and storytelling via song. We chat about how ?uestlove’s mom got him his first job at a movie theater in Philly, to eventually working on numerous records with The Roots. We explore the duties of a producer, to succeeding as a cellist without becoming a soloist.
