LOS ANGELES — Christina Aguilera will honor late singer Whitney Houston at the 2017 American Music Awards.
The 36-year-old recording artist will celebrate Houston and the 25th anniversary of her movie The Bodyguard at the annual awards show in November.
“@xtina will honor 22-time #AMAs winner Whitney Houston and the anniversary of ‘The Bodyguard’ with a musical tribute! LIVE 11.19 on ABC,” the American Music Awards official Twitter account announced Monday.
Aguilera will perform a musical tribute to Houston, who died at age 48 in February 2012. She said in an Instagram post that she’s “excited” to honor Houston at the ceremony, which will take place Nov. 19.
“I am excited, honored and humbled to perform a tribute to one of my idols, Whitney Houston for the 25th Anniversary of ‘The Bodyguard’ at the @AMAs! 11/19 on ABC,” the star wrote.
The Bodyguard, which opened in theaters in November 1992, co-starred Houston and actor Kevin Costner. The movie’s soundtrack featured several songs from Houston, including a cover of “I Will Always Love You.”
Aguilera released the album Lotus in 2012, and recorded the single “Change” in 2016 following the Orlando nightclub shooting. She served as a judge in several seasons of the NBC reality competition The Voice.

LOS ANGELES — Netflix is wrapping up its political drama House of Cards with its upcoming sixth season.
Variety reported the series is currently in production and its last episodes are scheduled to air in 2018.
The Hollywood Reporter also ran a story about the show’s cancellation Monday, just hours after its star Kevin Spacey tweeted an apology for sexually harassing Anthony Rapp at a party more than three decades ago when the Star Trek: Discovery actor was 14.
In a lengthy statement he tweeted to his followers, Spacey said he did not remember the incident Rapp described, but didn’t deny it and suggested he may have been inebriated when he carried Rapp to his bed and climbed on top of him. In the same post, Spacey also confirmed for the first time that he is gay.
Rapp told BuzzFeed over the weekend about his experience with Spacey because he was inspired by the many women who have come forward in recent weeks to report sexual harassment and abuse in the entertainment industry.

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — The Jersey Shore franchise will return to television with the new show Floribama Shore.
MTV announced in a press release Monday that Jersey Shore creator SallyAnn Salsano will executive produce the forthcoming series with Drew Tappon.
Floribama Shore will take place along the beaches of the Florida panhandle, which stretch from Florida to Alabama. The cast will be based in Panama City Beach, Fla., a popular vacation destination.
The cast will consist of four men, Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Kirk Medas and Gus Smyrnios, and four women, Kortni Gilson, Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant and Candace Rice, between the ages of 21 and 25 who hail from Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.
“This coming of age story captures the very real thrill and angst of being young and trying to figure out the future with a group of people you’ll come to call family,” the press release reads.
MTV also shared a trailer for Floribama Shore, which premieres Nov. 27. The preview opens with the famous duck phone from Jersey Shore, then changes to a phone in the shape of an alligator.
Jersey Shore had a six-season run on MTV from 2009 to 2012, and inspired several other series, including Geordie Shore in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Several cast members reunited Saturday at Deena Cortese’s wedding.
