North Carolina Virtual Public School (NC Virtual) is the second-largest virtual school in the country. Through online, blended, and mobile courses, students are discovering the “virtual advantage” that will prepare them for college and a career.n n NC VIRTUAL COURSE WRITER: EXPECTATIONSn n NC Virtual is looking for highly qualified NC certified teachers to serve as subject-matter experts on course development teams. The qualified applicant should be knowledgeable of course design frameworks such as the Universal Design for Learning principles, Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy, and backwards design. The applicant should have a strong understanding of curriculum standards and experience creating engaging lessons and activities that promote active learning through problem based learning, real-world examples, authentic assessments, and more. The applicant should have high organization and self-management skills and own a personal computer, phone/other communication device, and Internet access.n n NC VIRTUAL COURSE WRITER: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESn n The Following Are Obligations For Employmentn n The teacher(s) selected will be tasked with writing content for Career Management, a NC Virtual course being developed to meet North Carolina standards. nPrepare for and attend course development collaborative Zoom sessions. n nAttend team time face-to-face in July (if possible).n nBe knowledgeable of and follow NC Virtual requirements and federal and state laws and/or guidelines regarding; copyright, Fair Use, and accessibility; and, report any violations of federal and state laws and/or guidelines to the NC Virtual Staff.n nAs part of a team, the Course Writer will follow the approved course outline and contribute to the standards map.n nIndependently or with a partner, the Course Writer will: nWrite content as needed to meet goals and objectives of the NC content standards and NC Virtual Instructional Design standards in the provided templates. The content will be engaging to all learners, allow for differentiation, include collaborative assessments and incorporation of 21st Century concepts, and align to Universal Design for Learning (UDL), copyright, and accessibility guidelines. n nRevise (or recreate) the content you developed based on feedback documented by the content reviewer and LMS designer, according to the timeline.n n nDevelop all content according to the NC Virtual training specifications.n nUphold all NC Virtual guidelines and procedures outlined within the NC Virtual training course and workshop, to include meeting all deadlines and communicating with assigned staff members when a deadline cannot be met.n n A final walkthrough of the course will occur if the contractor has met all phase deadlines. If the deadlines are met and the final walkthrough is completed, an additional amount of $500 will be paid at the end of the contract.
