n Employment Type: nPart time n Shift: nDay Shift n Description: nLoyola Medicine, treating the whole person with compassion—to “also treat the human spirit.” The Safety and Security Department at MacNeal Hospital seeks a Safety & Security Office who is solution driven and a self-starter to patrol and protect the Medical Center campus and its building. n nLocation: MacNeal Hospital nSchedule: Monday – Friday/rotating Weekends nShift:1st 6:00am – 2:30pm n n****If hired, Loyola Medicine has a mandatory vaccination requirement*** nnIn this role, the Security & Safety Officer will provide unarmed uniformed security, safety and customer services to all staff, students, patients and visitors of the Medical Center. nn nn Position Responsibilities nn nPatrols Medical Center Campus and its buildings to deter crime, prevent loss and promote a safe environment. n nProvides and maintains a security presence at the main entrances of various buildings on campus to control access, provide directions and assistance and prevent loss. n nGathers information for and completes various reports to document incidents and events on the Medical Center Campus. n nPerforms traffic and crowd control on the medical center campus to control access and direct the flow of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. n nAssists the Parking Department in the accomplishment of their goals by providing motorist assistance and parking control assists the Safety Department in the accomplishment of their goals by providing fire and chemical safety services. n nPerforms security and service related duties as assigned to promote loss and crime prevention and service excellence. n nEnforces the rules and regulations of Loyola University Health System and Medical Center. n nn MAGIS & Service Excellence Accountabilities: nn nResponsible for consistently demonstrating our MAGIS values of Care, Concern, Respect and Cooperation through teamwork and effective communication in an effort to prevent and solve problems and to achieve quality outcomes, patient safety, customer satisfaction and a safe environment. n nResponsible for developing and maintaining an environment of service excellence as outlined in the Service Excellence standards. n nn Position Requirements nn nn Required: nn nHigh School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education n n Specify Degree(s): Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security Admin, Fire Services or related field n nMay be required to be on-call for emergencies, and as needed on occasional evenings/weekends for security needs n nn Preferred: nn nAssociates Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education n n1-2 years of previous job-related experience n nn Licensure/Certifications nn nn Required: nn nGeneral – Valid Illinois driver's license n nn Preferred: nn nBasic Life Support (CPR) n n Other: International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification n nPreferred n nn Computer Skills: nn nn Preferred: nn nBasic Keyboarding Skills n nBasic Microsoft Office applications n nn Required Skills nn nAbility to communicate effectively with Staff, Students and patients n nMust have sharp mental alertness and attention to detail n nAbility to deal calmly and courteously with people n nAbility to deal with stressful situations n nAbility to finish tasks in a timely manner n nAbility to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures n nAbility to maintain accuracy and consistency n nAbility to maintain confidentiality n nAbility to work as an effective team member n nn Physical Requirements nn nStand or walk constantly during or up to an entire shift n nClimb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift n nOccasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties n nAssist in lifting patients as needed to either assist nursing or transporting staff n nRestrain violent/combative patients to prevent injuries to themselves and others n nThe ability to power walk and or run as needed n nAbility to use both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks n nRequires good eye vision to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination n nWork in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat; n nn Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion n nn nnTrinity Health is a family of 115,000 colleagues and nearly 26,000 physicians and clinicians across 25 states.
