The primary focus of this role will be Takeda’s leading-edge portfolio in rare metabolic, hematologic, and immunologic diseases and the development of best-in-class therapeutics. The TS will be an integral member of cross-functional project teams and will be accountable for identifying preclinical models with mechanistic alignment to human disease, defining the preclinical and early clinical biomarker strategy, defining translational plans, and helping to build the early clinical development plan. n We are seeking a qualified candidate who will share our excitement about science, contribute to our inclusive culture, and honor our commitment to patients. nn nn nn nnJoin Takeda as a Principal Scientist, Translational Sciences in our Rare Disease team, based in Cambridge, MA.nn nn nn nn How you will contribute: nn nn ACCOUNTABILITIES nn n Embed in project teams at project launch and partner with members of the project team to select and engage with internal functions and external collaborators/KOLs to design translational strategies from preclinical development through early clinical development and ePOC n n Integrate knowledge from diverse sources to inform translational hypothesis generation, identify models suitable for hypothesis testing, contribute to experimental design, and coordinate execution and data analysis n n Drive development of translational plans, including MOA relevance in disease area, preclinical models, PD and efficacy biomarkers, competitive differentiation, patient stratification, early clinical development strategy, and go/no-go criteria to move through project milestones n n In partnership with the clinical and strategy leads, serve as a standard of care, clinical landscape, and competitive landscape knowledge base for relevant disease areas n n Work in a cross-functional environment spanning discovery and development and effectively interact with a variety of functions, including but not limited to Discovery Biology, Global Gene Therapy, Drug Safety, DMPK, Clinical Pharmacology, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Commercial and others n n Enable seamless flow of forward and reverse translational knowledge between the non-clinical and clinical teams n n Contribute towards relevant documentation and presentations as projects move through internal review stage gates to regulatory submissions n n Maintain a high level of scientific expertise through continuous literature reviews, congresses and seminar attendances, and networking with key opinion leaders n nn nn nn DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS nn n Outstanding expertise and depth of knowledge within a scientific area (immunology, gene therapy, hematology, metabolic or neuroscience preferred) n n Current with scientific advancements (e.g. competitive landscape, new technology, new research portfolio, and new partnership) n nn nn nn Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: nn nPhD / MS / BS degree with 6+ / 12+ / 14+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical R&D, a health-related consulting company, or an academic role in translationally focused research (or a combination of aforementioned)n n Expertise in rare hematologic, immunologic or metabolic diseasesn nExperience working with one or more therapeutic modalities (e.g. small molecules, antibodies, gene therapies)n nExperience in critically evaluating disease relevant animal models and translatable bio-markersn nExperience in designing, managing, analyzing, reviewing, summarizing, interpreting and reporting nonclinical pharmacology studiesn nExperience in clinical sciences including contribution to clinical trials or to observational clinical studies in an academic or industry setting is desired but not requiredn nTrack record of success contributing to moving therapeutic programs forward through discovery, preclinical and/or clinical development in an industry settingn nA growing knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and proven ability to obtain results, deal with ambiguity and seek solutionsn nProven skills in negotiation, influencing without authority and working diplomatically n nAbility to work and drive decision-making within multi-disciplinary matrix teamsn Excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing, reviewing and editing scientific documents n nn nn nn What Takeda can offer you: nn nComprehensive Healthcare: Medical, Dental, and Visionn nFinancial Planning & Stability: 401(k) with company match and Annual Retirement Contribution Plann nHealth & Wellness programs including onsite flu shots and health screeningsn nGenerous time off for vacation and the option to purchase additional vacation daysn nCommunity Outreach Programs and company match of charitable contributionsn nFamily Planning Supportn nFlexible Work Pathsn nTuition reimbursementn nn nn nn More about us: nn nnAt Takeda, we are transforming patient care through the development of novel specialty pharmaceuticals and best in class patient support programs.
