Employing the ECS Path to Prosperity model (adapted from EMPath’s Mobility Mentoring® Model), the Financial Specialist is a member of a dynamic team of coaching and specialist staff who support program participants working to achieve economic self-sufficiency. The Financial Specialist will work directly with participants across ECS’ programs in support of their financial management goals.n n Primary Functions:n nProvide ongoing, customized one-on-one coaching and guidance to program participants in the areas of personal finances, financial literacy and asset building.nParticipate in the development and facilitation of financial workshops that both educate and inform participants about budgeting, debt management and reduction strategies, and savings development.nDocument participant progress through the administration of all relevant program evaluation tools and assessments.nRecord participant information and progress data precisely, accurately, and on time, with a rigorous dedication to confidentiality and data security protocols.nProvide referrals to additional ECS programming/services or partner organizations and other resources to help participants reach their goals.nUtilize an incentive model to encourage and promote goal achievement among participants. nDevelop and maintain positive working relationships with financial agencies and other stakeholders who can provide expertise to support greater financial empowerment for participants.nSteward strategic partner organizations into the ECS’ St. Barnabas Community Resource Center to administer their programs to the benefit of ECS participants and local community membersnEngage in education and advocacy efforts with ECS stakeholders to further advocacy goals in alignment with the missionnSupport the administration of the Individual Development Account, a key asset-building account that is available to specific program participants.nWork as a team member in support of participant success. n n Qualifications:n n Requiredn nCommitment to ECS’ mission and values with a passion for working with families with low incomesnMinimum of 2-4 years professional experience in financial counseling, financial coaching, financial education, or financial literacy. nFamiliarity with advocacy issues relating to financial empowerment, college debt reduction, predatory lending, etc.nOpenness to and respect for others’ cultures, identities, and lived experiences.nDemonstrated ability to establish and build strong, trusting partnerships with participants and partners.nDetail-oriented with the ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to explain complex information in plain language.nDemonstrated knowledge of community-based resources in the greater Philadelphia area. nAbility to travel throughout Philadelphia to provide services and attend meetings.nAbility to maintain confidentiality with participant information in accordance with established ECS Confidentiality Practices.nHigh level of flexibility/adaptability, including ability to adjust schedule to meet participant needs.nProficient computer skills (including Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams).n n Preferredn nPrior experience working with low-income families and communitiesnBachelor’s degree in related fieldnFormal financial education trainingn nECS provides a motivating work environment and encourages individual professional development.
