nnThe communications and events specialist provides support for external communications and marketing activities and events. This position reports to the manager of communications and is hourly, nonexempt. This position will work in the office for at least the first 90 days. After that, the position will have the option to work remotely when necessary, up to two days per week. nn nn n nn nnQualified candidates should submit a resume with cover letter for consideration.nn nn nn nn Essential Functions nn nn n nn nSupport communications and marketing department with writing and editing communications for donors, prospects, professional advisors and nonprofits. n nExecute external events. This includes writing and sending event descriptions and invitations; managing expenses; securing venues, catering, a/v, photographer, videographer and other vendors; tracking RSVPs; creating and/or securing giveaways and printed materials; and writing and sending follow-up communications and event recaps. n nCreate and send monthly emails to donors and nonprofit organizations and regular emails to professional advisors and corporate audiences.n nWrite and post updates on social media accounts. n nCreate and update marketing materials. n nUpdate WordPress websites and regularly monitor websites’ health. n nCreate online donation pages for funds as requested. n nDesign custom, corporate Giving Cards as requested.n nMaintain electronic media clip files.n nPrepare check requests for invoices.n nn n nn nnThis job description is a summary of the employment-at-will relationship and not a contract. Prefer at least one internship or year of experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. n nStrong writing skills and basic knowledge of AP style. n nExperience using Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop, is preferred. n nAbility to read, analyze and interpret a variety of instructions and procedures; operate within current industry best practices. n nAbility to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and successfully communicate verbally and in writing. n nAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. High technical aptitude and ability to learn new software quickly and thoroughly.n nAbility to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.n nAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.n nPossess operational level of financial acumen and ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. n nAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.n nAbility to operate a highly collaborative environment, while able to work independently and be self-motivated. n nThis position will be required to travel to off-site meetings and events in the Kansas City metro and must have access to reliable transportation with a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license. n nn n nn nn The employee must physically be able to nn nn n nn nRegularly complete tasks at a computer terminal. n nWork in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.n nWork within an office that has a moderate noise level. n nCommunicate and interpret detailed information.n
