nnJob Description: Athletic Trainern nThe following is a description of the Athletic Trainer position. Responsibilities include thenfollowing, but are not limited to the list. This position requires long hours and works in andemanding, fast-paced environment in all aspects of weather. This position will be workingnalongside our on-field coaching staff to coordinate the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation andnreconditioning of the players; along with medical professionals when outside treatment isnneeded. Time management and attention tondetail will determine the outcome of your performance. This is a traveling position that worksnevery game home and road roughly April 26th through Sept 30th, including holidays.nAttendance is mandatory. Must be able to lift 40lbs.nn nnThis position reports directly to the Cougars Field Manager and/or the Cougars Vice President/General Manager.nn nnMedical Duties:n Consult and collaborate with other members of the Cougars medical, and coaching staffs.n Prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and management of athletic injuries.n Identify and meet the goals and needs of our players through a holistic and total bodynapproach.n Develop individualized, player-centered care plans, baseball and throwing progressions.n Assist in managing players in the weight room.n Timely, effective, and concise communication of injuries and illnesses with members ofnthe partnering medical staff, members of the coaching staff, and the front office staff.n Implement health and performance screening.n Provide quality, personalized, and evidence-based care with best available interventions.n Be able to provide mental/psychological support throughout the rehabilitation process.n Provide emergency aid (basic wound care, BLS/CPR/AED) when necessary.n Promote and provide an example of a healthy lifestyle, fitness, and wellness.n Promote, facilitate, and be an example of lifelong learning, critical thinking, and creativitynin your practice.n Demonstrate an eagerness to learn from peers within the organization and to executenorganizational evaluation techniques, treatment and therapeutic exercise principles.n Follow professional guidelines, laws, and standards set by Professional, Federal, andnState Licensing boards.n Follow and enforce all League, state and local covid protocols and mandates.n Be aware of Emergency Action/Operation Plan with the organization and the local EMS.n Organize and maintain a professional training room (e.g., cleanliness, safety, inventoriednmedical supplies/rehabilitation equipment, professional dress code and behavior,navailability to players/staff to render treatment/assistance prior to daily schedule,nadherence to OSHA and league medical facility/training room rules and policies).n nAdministrative Duties:n Maintain player and staff electronic medical records and hard copy files (e.g., dailyndocumentation of objective findings, treatments, doctor appointments, correspondencenfrom doctors, diagnostic testing, and any other relevant medical information pertaining tonindividuals).n Update and maintain accurate daily injury/maintenance reports that will be sent daily tonappropriate medical and front office staff.n Establish and maintain rapport with local and organizational team physicians.n Establish a network with healthcare professionals in rehabilitation and sports medicine.n Provide leadership and education for all members of the team.n Coordinate local entry and exit physicals and doctor appointments.n Assist in player development responsibilities, hotel bookings and distribution of per diem.n Prepare travel trunks and inventory for road trips.n nJob Requirements (must meet the following minimum requirements):n Current NATA BOC Certification/ Athletic Training Licensure.n Demonstrate the ability to work within a team approach to player health.n Strong evaluation, manual therapy and interpersonal communication skills.n Available to work 10+ hours per day, typically 6 days a week.n Valid passport.n Have a positive professional image and demeanor.n Physical requirements include the ability to: stand for long periods of time; provide manualnintervention and resistive exercise to professional baseball players; demonstrate complexnmovement patterns and exercises; throw/play catch; and transfer/lift patientsnindependently.n nPreferred Qualificationsn Experience working as an athletic trainer with collegiate and/or professional baseballnplayers.n Desired continuing education coursework: SFMA, PRI, DNS, ART.n General baseball knowledge and exposure to professional and/or baseball culture.n Strong desire to model and influence positive, winning clubhouse culture.n n**Salary and other compensation to be discussednn nEmployment Type: Temp/SeasonalnYears Experience: 1 – 3 yearsnBonus/Commission: No
